Pi Network’s PI Token Jumps 16% on Protocol Upgrade & AI Node Breakthrough
Pi Network's native token, PI, surged sharply, climbing as much as 16% to break above $0.23—its highest level in three months. The rally follows two major technical developments for the decentralized project.
The V20.2 protocol upgrade was successfully completed on March 7, requiring all 421,000+ active nodes to update by March 12. Network operators reported temporary synchronization issues during the transition, but the system is now running stably. This marks the third phase of Pi Network's multi-stage roadmap toward full decentralization.
Separately, developers showcased a proof-of-concept for decentralized AI training using idle node resources. This breakthrough could position Pi Network as a contender in the distributed machine learning infrastructure space.
Traders are now eyeing the $0.28 resistance level, where PI previously stalled in late 2025. Market participants are anticipating potential announcements during Pi Day celebrations on March 14, including details on validator reward structures and speculation about exchange listings—with particular focus on Kraken.
